Counting around 85 000 inhabitants, its mountainous territory is divided in 7 administrative and geographic districts, the parishes, within which several villages and cities, such as the capital Andorra la Vella, are established.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The parishes, cities and villages of the Principality of Andorra<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The&nbsp;<strong>Principality of Andorra<\/strong>&nbsp;is divided in&nbsp;<strong>7 parishes<\/strong>: Andorra la Vella, Canillo, Encamp, Escaldes-Engordany, La Massana, Ordino and Sant Julia de Loria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Andorra la Vella and Escaldes-Engordany<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Located in the&nbsp;<strong>South<\/strong>&nbsp;of the country, the parishes of&nbsp;<strong>Andorra la Vella<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>Escaldes-Engordany<\/strong>&nbsp;give form to the principal&nbsp;<strong>urban area<\/strong>&nbsp;of the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The capital, Andorra la Vella, the most important city in the country<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Composed of&nbsp;<strong>22 250 inhabitants<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>Andorra la Vella<\/strong>&nbsp;is the&nbsp;<strong>capital city<\/strong>&nbsp;of the&nbsp;<strong>Principality<\/strong>&nbsp;and the principal city of Andorra. It is located in the&nbsp;<strong>South-West<\/strong>&nbsp;of the country, in the valley of the&nbsp;<strong>Valira<\/strong>. Its&nbsp;<strong>altitude<\/strong>&nbsp;of&nbsp;<strong>1 013 meters<\/strong>&nbsp;makes it the highest capital in Europe!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Focal point<\/strong>&nbsp;of the country,&nbsp;<strong>Andorra la Vella<\/strong>&nbsp;gathers the majority of&nbsp;<strong>services<\/strong>&nbsp;(<a href=\"https:\/\/setupandorra.com\/\/en\/live\/children-schools-and-childcare\/\">education<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/setupandorra.com\/\/en\/live\/health-and-social-security-system\/\">health<\/a>) and&nbsp;<strong>institutions<\/strong>&nbsp;of the Principality of Andorra, including the&nbsp;<strong>Government<\/strong>&nbsp;of the country. The&nbsp;<strong>major Andorran city<\/strong>&nbsp;is also known for its astounding&nbsp;<strong>reception conditions<\/strong>, its many&nbsp;<strong>hotels<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>restaurants<\/strong>, as well as its unmatched&nbsp;<strong>shopping conditions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Political<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>economic<\/strong>&nbsp;capital of the country, it was,&nbsp;<strong>until 1978<\/strong>, the home to the Andorran city&nbsp;<strong>Escaldes-Engordany<\/strong>, which is now a parish of its own. Actually,&nbsp;<strong>Andorra la Vella<\/strong>&nbsp;is now the&nbsp;<strong>smallest parish<\/strong>&nbsp;on the Andorran territory, but not the least populated!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Let us precise that this parish of&nbsp;<strong>Andorra la Vella<\/strong>&nbsp;also welcomes the very lovely villages of&nbsp;<strong>La Margineda<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>Santa Coloma<\/strong>, with its&nbsp;<strong>sumptuous church<\/strong>, gem of the Andorran art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Escaldes-Engordany<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Stretching over 47 km\u00b2, the parish of&nbsp;<strong>Escaldes-Engordany<\/strong>&nbsp;contains another important city of the&nbsp;<strong>Principality of Andorra<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>Escaldes-Engordany<\/strong>, formed originally by the villages of&nbsp;<strong>Escaldes<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>Engordany<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The parish rises up to&nbsp;<strong>1 050 meters<\/strong>&nbsp;in height and gathers around&nbsp;<strong>17 000 inhabitants<\/strong>&nbsp;called the \u201cEscaldencs\u201d. The&nbsp;<strong>Andorran villages<\/strong>&nbsp;of Vilars d\u2019Engordany, Engolasters and El Fener are built on its territory, also known because it is the home to the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Madriu-Perafita-Claror_Valley\">splendid wild valley of Madriu<\/a>, with its preserved fauna and flora, and&nbsp;<strong>Roman churches<\/strong>&nbsp;of Sant Roma dels Vilars and Sant Miquel d\u2019Engolasters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.caldea.com\/en\/\">thermo-recreational center Caldea<\/a>, unic thermal facility in Andorra gathering&nbsp;<strong>health and entertainment devices<\/strong>, also constitutes a&nbsp;<strong>major attraction<\/strong>&nbsp;of Escaldes-Engordany.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide is-stacked-on-mobile\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/setupandorra.com\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/les_paroisses_de_la_principaute_d_andorre.jpg\" alt=\"Les paroisses de la principaut\u00e9 d'Andorre\" class=\"wp-image-616\"\/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The other parishes, cities and villages of the Principality of Andorra<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Canillo<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Of an average&nbsp;<strong>altitude<\/strong>&nbsp;of&nbsp;<strong>1 530 meters<\/strong>&nbsp;for a surface area of&nbsp;<strong>121 km\u00b2<\/strong>, the parish of&nbsp;<strong>Canillo<\/strong>&nbsp;stretches in the&nbsp;<strong>North<\/strong>&nbsp;of the&nbsp;<strong>Principality of Andorra<\/strong>. Its inhabitants are called the \u201cCanillencs\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Andorran village of&nbsp;<strong>Canillo<\/strong>&nbsp;is the&nbsp;<strong>major village<\/strong>&nbsp;of the parish, that also contains the&nbsp;<strong>villages<\/strong>&nbsp;of:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Soldeu,<\/li><li>Incles,<\/li><li>El Tarter,<\/li><li>Ransol,<\/li><li>Meritxell,<\/li><li>L\u2019Aldosa,<\/li><li>Prats,<\/li><li>Els Pons,<\/li><li>El Forn.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are&nbsp;<strong>many interest points<\/strong>: on a leisure level, the&nbsp;<strong>motorcycle museum<\/strong>&nbsp;and the&nbsp;<strong>Ice Palace<\/strong>&nbsp;are commendable, while the&nbsp;<strong>Meritxell Sanctuary<\/strong>&nbsp;and the&nbsp;<strong>Vall d\u2019Incles<\/strong>&nbsp;will please the lovers of History and nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">La Massana<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rising up at&nbsp;<strong>1 230 meters<\/strong>&nbsp;of&nbsp;<strong>height<\/strong>&nbsp;in the&nbsp;<strong>South of the country<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>La Massana<\/strong>&nbsp;is one of the major cities in the&nbsp;<strong>Principality of Andorra<\/strong>. The parish of the same name unveils lovely&nbsp;<strong>Andorran villages<\/strong>&nbsp;sheltering the \u201cMassanencs\u201d, the&nbsp;<strong>10 000 inhabitants<\/strong>&nbsp;gathered in this district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Let us mention the villages of&nbsp;<strong>Pal<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>Arinsal<\/strong>, well known to the&nbsp;<strong>skiers<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>winter sports\u2019 lovers<\/strong>&nbsp;and regular visitors of the&nbsp;<strong>Vallnord station<\/strong>, as well as Erts, Sispony, Anyos, L\u2019Aldosa, Escas, Xixerella, El Pui, Puiol del Piu or Mas de Ribafeta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The&nbsp;<strong>Pic of Coma Pedrosa<\/strong>&nbsp;(2 942 m),&nbsp;<strong>summit<\/strong>&nbsp;of the&nbsp;<strong>Principality of Andorra<\/strong>, is located in this parish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Encamp<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The&nbsp;<strong>14 000<\/strong>&nbsp;\u201cEncampadans\u201d are the&nbsp;<strong>inhabitants<\/strong>&nbsp;of the parish of&nbsp;<strong>Encamp<\/strong>, of which the city of the same name is&nbsp;<strong>important<\/strong>&nbsp;in Andorra. This&nbsp;<strong>mountain territory<\/strong>&nbsp;of an&nbsp;<strong>average altitude<\/strong>&nbsp;of&nbsp;<strong>1 250 meters<\/strong>&nbsp;also welcomes gorgeous&nbsp;<strong>Andorran villages<\/strong>: Le Tremat, Las Mosquera, Les Bons, Vila, and Grau Roig.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Renowned for its&nbsp;<strong>advantageous prices<\/strong>&nbsp;on many&nbsp;<strong>merchandises<\/strong>&nbsp;and the&nbsp;<strong>interesting investment possibilities<\/strong>&nbsp;it offers, the&nbsp;<strong>Andorran border-village El Pas de la Casa<\/strong>&nbsp;is also part of the parish of&nbsp;<strong>Encamp<\/strong>. It is an inevitable passage for the people coming&nbsp;<strong>from France<\/strong>&nbsp;via the famous&nbsp;<strong>Port d\u2019Envalira<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The parish of&nbsp;<strong>Encamp<\/strong>&nbsp;also offers a great part of the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/ww2.grandvalira.com\/en\">skiing area of Grandvalira<\/a>, the largest in the&nbsp;<strong>Pyrenees<\/strong>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sant Julia de Loria<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Almost&nbsp;<strong>10 000 inhabitants<\/strong>&nbsp;called the \u201cLauredians\u201d populate the Andorran city of&nbsp;<strong>Sant Julia de Loria<\/strong>&nbsp;and the&nbsp;<strong>villages<\/strong>&nbsp;that form the parish of the same name: Auvigny, Bissisarri, Certers, Fontaneda, Juberri, Nagol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are many&nbsp;<strong>points of interest<\/strong>: Aixirivall, Aixovall, Llumeneres, the&nbsp;<strong>churches<\/strong>&nbsp;of Sant Cerni de Nagol and Sant Marti de Nago, as well as the&nbsp;<strong>Canolich Sanctuary<\/strong>&nbsp;are open to visit!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The parish of Ordino and its villages, typical of the Principality of Andorra<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At almost&nbsp;<strong>1 300 meters of height<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>Ordino<\/strong>&nbsp;is the&nbsp;<strong>most important village<\/strong>&nbsp;of the parish located in the&nbsp;<strong>North-West<\/strong>&nbsp;of the&nbsp;<strong>Principality of Andorra<\/strong>, in which live the \u201cOrdinencs\u201d (4 000 inhabitants).
